The Situation

Reditus is an affiliate marketing platform for B2B SaaS. Their biggest opportunity: automatically finding relevant affiliates outside their 20,000+ network. But the engineering team had no bandwidth. Manual affiliate recruitment took half a day per client. That doesn't scale to hundreds of clients. Competitors were launching similar features. The deadline: a live demo at SaaStock in October.

    PoC in Google Docs

    A deliberately simple proof-of-concept: client input in a Google Doc, affiliate results in a Sheet. The goal: validate that the AI agents produced usable lists before building any infrastructure.

  2. July–August

    Production architecture

    With the PoC validated, SPAIK built the real engine: n8n for orchestration, Supabase as the data layer, and three parallel AI agents each with their own remit.

  3. September

    Stability & handover

    Batch processing against memory overflows, caching against API costs, and strict JSON schemas for reliable output. SPAIK handed the code to the Reditus team agent by agent.

  4. October

    Live demo at SaaStock

    Four months after the first PoC, the module went live on stage at SaaStock — and immediately generated 20+ qualified leads.

Lessons for scale-ups
  1. Retainer > hourly for innovation

    A fixed monthly price removed the hours debate and rewarded speed. Hourly rates reward working slowly; a retainer makes pace everyone's interest.

  2. Forward-deployed > external consultant

    SPAIK lived in Reditus' Slack, standups and systems. No handover document, but building together — avoiding miscommunication and 'not invented here'.

  3. PoC-first avoids waste

    First a Google Doc → Sheet that worked, only then infrastructure. Product-market fit was proven before a single euro went into architecture.

  4. Build for handover from day 1

    Separate databases (Supabase for agents, Reditus DB for the platform) and per-agent runbooks. The Reditus team could run the system without refactoring their core.

  5. Senior is cheaper than junior

    Experienced engineers worked 3–4x faster. Even at a higher rate, total cost was lower — for R&D, seniority is cost-efficient, not a luxury.
